Of course there had to be a poodle puzzle. The final puzzle of this series is a snow and a star studded showdown with Philip and his best friend Sterling. PLUS a note on when I'll be back after the holidays.
I'm not sure if this is a thing that other poodle owners go through but generally speaking - Philip can only play with other poodles. Poodles, especially standards, are a lot for other dogs to deal with.
I’d describe their style of play as part professional grappling, part circus-style ultimate fighter. At any moment, this can give way to sudden bursts of springing straight up into the air or tearing off at full speed.
News alert. Poodles are pretty and prancey but they aren't prissy.
This concludes the 7 days of holiday puzzles.
I will again be taking time to organize my house and life for the coming year in January. If you weren't around then or missed it, this past January I took the entire month off to organize and get rid of stuff. It was a HUGE job.
I've done a pretty good job of keeping the house in good shape. The drawers are still manageable, the basement is a tiny bit of a mess, but just needs a small amount of tidying that can be done in a couple of hours. Last year it took weeks to tidy the basement.
I’m still a full-on disaster when it comes to doing laundry. I’ve convinced myself it’s because I get dirtier than most people and therefore have more of it.
I don’t. That’s just a coping mechanism.
The good news? I’ve become EXCELLENT at not letting the mess from my never-ending experiments and projects spiral out of control. Every night before bed, I go through the house, put things away, wash any lingering dishes, and get everything ready for a fresh start the next morning.
Mostly.
From here on in, January is going to be my time to make sure everything is organized and easy to keep that way. You can take a look at what I did last year if you want to play along. When I'm back I'll update you on what I did and let you know of any good tips I discovered.
In the meantime, sit back, relax and enjoy the time off you hopefully have between now and after New Year's. Don't do any laundry.

I was hoping for a Lip-centric puzzle! Happy New Year Karen, may your January be everything you need it to be. 2024 was bountiful with Karen and I am a better person for it. Thanks for what you do.

I'm going to miss this daily reprieve from politics - so peaceful. Can't wait to see your next big project/experiment. Happy New Year and many, many more.

That was a doggone fun puzzle - thanks for sharing the whimsy.

Hi Karen,
Philip reminds me of my in-laws' black Royal Standard poodle. His name was Max, and he was the best natured dog ever. He used to sit at the corner of the dining table, butt on the floor, chin on the table, and heave big sighs across our dinner until he got a treat. Then he'd go to his pillow and wait for us to be finished. He knew we'd go for an after-dinner walk. Miss those times.
